The idea of this performance is that one cannot purify something if the tool or method he is using is not pure itself. In the same way, society cannot make efficient rules for keeping everything sober, whether they apply to morality or the physical world (bodies, environment, etc.), because the rules themselves are biased. One needs something already pure to purify something, such as the white roses. However, the roses get spoilt during the process, sacrificing themselves. The purification process is thus not an act of possession or domination of the other but an act of selflessness.
